The Stirling Stallion
The Early Writing Career of Deborah Schwartz
April 1988

"The Stirling Stallion" was Deborah Schwartz's first published poem.

It was written in honor of Schwartz's Elementary School mascot, and deals with such mature topics as horses, the passage of time, and dietary needs.

This issue of the Stirling Silver, was produced in the spring of Schwartz’s fifth grade year. All articles appearing in the publication were written on an Apple 2e from the computer room.

Other articles on the page include "Survey Shows T.V. Preferences" (which ranks such popular shows at the time as "My Two Dads," "Growing Pains," and "Who’s the Boss") and "The Stirling Silver," an explanation of the publication’s goals as written by the paper's sponsor, a high school student.
